Happy Holidays 1998
Dear Friends and Family,
Hope you've had a great 1998 and expect an even better 1999. What a difference a year can make. We truly feel blessed and lucky and are valuing our every minute of stress free time. M has had a great start in high school and is focusing on his academics. We are thrilled with how he plans ahead, studies diligently and foregoes activities to complete assignments. Thank you Riverdale. Many of his teachers at Sunset have motivated him to venture into areas we have been unable to get him to go. Thank you Sunset. M was also thrilled that his best friend Greg moved in next door, making coordinating activities much easier. He's looking forward to baseball.
Boy! Has college changed! The individualization and professionalism of the staff at Santa Clara caught us off guard. Not only do they all know N by name, but they know all the student's names, the professor's call on them in class, and the entire staff is very accessible to help students when they need help. We remember being a number and never dreaming of talking with a professor, let alone one knowing our name. N is truly lucky to have found such a great college fit; great roommate, academics, athletics and of course very social. She is very, very happy.
B's work has ventured into new territory with the Asian market problems creating lower demand for wafers thus thrusting the industry into higher competition between wafer manufacturers. However impacting him most was that his mentor / coworker for the past 18 years, Steve moved to Phoenix, Arizona to work for a competitor. All of these factors contributed to additional, continual adjustments in an ever changing high tech field. So life is not dull.
I love my job, have very nice students and get paid for learning and teaching technology. I even have 30 new to me (but 8th grade hand me downs) computers, that have colored monitors, at least 16 mg of ram each and are hooked to the internet. What more could anyone ask for??? The new CIM standards and focus on test scores have created their own new pressures.
Last year at this time our focus was fairly narrow. We all take or receive different journey's in life. It's not the destination of these journey's which is most important but the journey itself and what we make of it. What a difference a year can make. As this holiday season continues and the new year looms near and our nation faces the dilemma of impeaching the president we want to make sense of people generated journey's. Over and over accountability for personal integrity comes up.
And over and over we think isn't that what our holiday season is suppose to be all about?
We truly hope you and your family have a wonderful, thankful holiday season.
B,D,N and M
